Spanning the mountainous northwest corner of the county, the Bald Eagle area is geographically the largest in Centre County. But with a population under 13,000, the Bald Eagle area offers a spacious and private environment just fifteen minutes from major local towns.

Port Matilda
Founded in 1850, Port Matilda is a small town just 10 minutes west of State College. The borough was historically a rail center, and residents still enjoy easy access to nearby towns via Interstate 99.
Milesburg
Sitting just north of Bellefonte with a population of nearly 1,200 is the Borough of Milesburg. Its close proximity to Interstate 80 makes for easy travel around Centre County, while nearby state game lands and local creeks attract outdoor enthusiasts and anglers.
Howard
Howard is well-known because of its proximity to Bald Eagle State Park, but it is also a friendly community with rich history. Founded in 1810, the town of Howard offers a relaxed atmosphere and small-town living.
Snow Shoe
Mountainous Snow Shoe's unique atmosphere reflects its history as a local industrial center. It is conveniently located on Interstate 80 and the hillside downtown mixes historic homes with new development.
Julian
Julian residents enjoy rural living with easy access to major highways and roads connecting Bellefonte, State College and Altoona. Additionally, the village of Julian is home to world-class gliding and soaring facilities. Thrill-seekers, bring your sense of adventure!
