Centre County offers a range of private and charter schools in addition to excellent public school districts. As a result, local students enjoy innovative approaches to learning, socializing, and playing.

Private Schools
Private school choices range from traditional K-12 programs to dedicated preschools and early childhood centers. Each school has a unique program and specialized educational goals, often tailored to each student. Charter Schools
Centre County is home to four charter schools, all in the State College area. Nittany Valley Charter School, Wonderland Charter School and Young Scholars of Central Pennsylvania were all chartered by the State College Area School District (SCASD). Partnering with the SCASD, the Bellefonte Area School District and Bald Eagle Area School District collectively oversee the Centre Learning Community charter school.
While all four schools are open to applications from students living in any Centre County school district, some give preference to students in the State College, Bellefonte, or Bald Eagle districts.
