The Bald Eagle Area School District

The Bald Eagle Area School District serves the expansive Bald Eagle area–five boroughs (Howard, Milesburg, Port Matilda, Snow Shoe and Unionville) and seven neighboring townships. There are 1,913 students enrolled in the district for the 2009-10 school year, while the projected enrollment for the 2016-17 school year is 1,655. On average, professional personnel in the district have 15.5 years of experience and earn $45,779 a year.

Schools
The district consists of Bald Eagle Area High School (which houses grades 7 through 12) and four elementary schools (see the table below). The school district also oversees the Centre Learning Community charter school along with the State College and Bellefonte Area School Districts.
The Bald Eagle Area High School offers a diverse athletic program as well as enriching extracurriculars such as Drama Club and Yearbook. The school also offers French, Spanish and Art classes for students, and provides additional academic support with after-school math tutoring and an extensive school library.
Academics
With a 96% graduation rate, the Bald Eagle Area School District has an average graduating class of about 170 students. The percentages of students who scored at a proficient level or above in the Pennsylvania System of School Assessment are 78% in Math and 75% in Reading. Additionally, the average SAT score is 1405, with an average Critical Reading score of 467, Math score of 487 and Writing score of 451.
