The Penns Valley Area School District

Rural Penns Valley is home to a total of five schools, with a close-knit graduating class of around 100 seniors. The Penns Valley Area School District serves the Boroughs of Centre Hall and Millheim and the five surrounding townships (Gregg, Haines, Miles, Penn and Potter).

There are 1,650 students enrolled for 2009-10, a number expected to increase to 1,720 by the 2016-17 school year. Professional personnel have on average 14.9 years of experience and earn an average salary of $53,211.

Schools
Penns Valley Area High School (housing grades 7 through 12) and four elementary schools make up the district (see the table below). Penns Valley Area High School offers its students classes in Agriculture and Biology as well as Music and Technology. Students can also participate in a variety of fall and spring sports including football, volleyball and track.
Academics
The Penns Valley Area School District has a 96% graduation rate. The percentages of students who scored at a proficient level or above in the Pennsylvania System of School Assessment are 76% in Math and 73% in Reading. Additionally, the average SAT score is 1531, with an average Critical Reading score of 509, Math score of 520 and Writing score of 502.
